Ferguslie aim to bounce back

FERGUSLIE take on old rivals Poloc today as they aim to get their championship challenge back on track.

The Meikleriggs team were overtaken as CSL Western First Division leaders by Renfrew following their shock defeat to Weirs last weekend.

And they also slipped behind East Kilbride as they dropped to third place in the standings.

Now Ferguslie play host to Poloc as they look to bounce back ... and they will have good memories of their earlier meeting this season at Shawholm.

On that occasion, back in early June, the Paisley side conjured up a 23-run win as David Stafford and Gregor Preston-Jones both notched up half-centuries.

Glenton Stuurman managed a similar feat for the hosts in that match, but Poloc still came up short in their run chase.

If Ferguslie are to realise their title ambitions, they must now tick off games against today’s opponents, followed by fixtures against East Kilbride (away), Stenhousemuir (home) and Prestwick (away), securing victories in all and, at the same time, hoping their rivals slip up.

Renfrew finish the season out with games against Weirs (away), Prestwick (away), Poloc (home) and Kelburne (away).

And East Kilbride are scheduled to meet Kelburne at Whitehaugh today before playing host to Ferguslie and finishing their campaign against Weirs (away) and Poloc (home) on the last day.
