New kit deal for Pirates

Paisley Pirates have struck a new kit sponsorship deal with long-term partners Pro-Life Fitness.

The Paisley gym’s logo will be emblazed across the Pirates’ jerseys when the new season gets under way in October and will provide the club with a much-needed cash boost.

A spokesman for Pro-Life said: “We are pleased to announce that we will be the new shirt sponsors for the Paisley Pirates. The jerseys will be on show when the season starts in October.

“Our established links go back to the early 1990s, and we hope to help the club enjoy another successful season.”

Meanwhile former Pirates secretary, Bill Elliot, has thanked the fans who turned out last Friday to help the club celebrate the 21st anniversary of their re-formation with an emotional bash at Pro-Life.

Bill, who is still involved with the present team, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the first-ever Paisley Pirates reunion such a success, and especially to those who came a distance to support it. I now know how to guarantee the success of a night — simply show up with a copy of the DVD of the 8-4 Scottish Cup win against Fife in 1997!

“After 15 years, people were STILL cheering the Pirates, and booing the Flyers — some things never change.”
