DEPOSED Scottish wrestling heavyweight champion Adam Shame will face the man who took his title belt this Sunday.
Shame, 28, spearheads a four-man grapple-fest that takes place at Beechwood Community Centre, Shortroods, Paisley.
And Shame, right, will be aiming to exact some revenge on BT Gunn, who took away his Scottish title earlier this year.
Although no title belts are up for grabs this time around, there will still be plenty for the crowds to cheer about as Shame, Gunn, Conscience and ‘The Ladies Choice’ Chris Renfrew, will all be strutting their stuff.
Shame said: “I will be fighting on the show against another three opponents – Conscience, BT Gunn and Chris Renfrew– in a four-way match which is every man for himself.
“Also featuring on the show will be local wrestlers Micken from Bishopton, and ‘Crazy’ Craig Byers from Ferguslie Park.
“All other participants on the show are trainees and graduates of the Area 52 Wrestling Training School that the Scottish Wrestling Alliance operate in Linwood.”
It’s hoped that Shame can reclaim the bragging rights over BT Gunn and set him up nicely for a proper re-match later this year.
Shame said: “I recently lost The NWA Scottish heavyweight title to an amazing up-and-comer on the UK scene, BT Gunn, in a very evenly-paced match.
“His pace and stamina got the better of me but I have learned from that defeat.
“I will come back faster for the re-match.
“It’s a match I am looking forward to and an opportunity to re-write the record books and become the first wrestler in this country to become a four-time National Champion in over 80 years.”
Shame has only recently returned from a fact-finding mission in the United States where he took in the Wrestlemania 25th anniversary, which united the best wrestlers from around the world in a one-off event in Texas.
Shame’s trip to the US is part of his long-term ambition to join up with the WWE (Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment) and become a firm fixture on the wrestling calendar over there.
He said: “The trip was an unbelievable experience for me. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to have met those people who can hopefully make my boyhood dream a reality one day.
“All my life I have wanted to wrestle for the WWE and that dream has never faded.
“I have confidence in my own ability that I can compete with the best and one day make it big in the States and do the people of Paisley, and indeed Scotland, proud.
“I’m the type of guy who has trained hard to be an all-rounder.
“I can roll around the mat and tie people up in knots, or I can be a brawler and knock you out.
“It’s talent that takes people to the top and I hope to continually improve to reach the highest level.”
Sunday’s event takes place at Beechwood Community Centre, Shortroods, Paisley, and doors open at 2.30pm for a 3pm start.
Tickets are on sale at the door priced £5.
