Juniors can see Pirates for free

BOSSES at The Pirates have made a n-ice gesture to the hockey stars of the future.

Any youngster who is a member of any of the Braehead ice hockey junior development clubs can get into the next Pirates game for free, if they are accompanied by an adult.

The game youngsters can watch for free is on Saturday, with face-off at 6.30pm, at Braehead Arena when the Pirates take on Irish outfit Dundalk Bulls in the Celtic Cup.

Pirates officials have been given the names of all the junior development members and all they have to do is turn up on Saturday accompanied by a paying adult, give their name, and they will get a free ticket for the big match.

A Pirates spokesman said: “We are aware that the future of ice hockey lies with youngsters coming through the junior development system.

“We are keen that, as the senior club in Renfrewshire, we do all we can to encourage young people to become and stay involved in ice hockey.

“Many kids will aspire to playing for the Pirates, so we’re delighted to let them in to the game against Dundalk Bulls for free.

“I’ve no doubt that some of the kids watching the Pirates for free will one day be on the ice playing for the Pirates.”
