Buddies can brush up on golf

BUDDIES are being invited to tee off 2010 with an improved knowledge of the rules of golf.

The Scottish Golf union is offering golfers and any level to take part in their seminars that will help them brush up on the laws of the game.

A Scottish Golf Union spokesperson said: “Whether you are an expert golfer or a complete novice it is important to have a good understanding of both the rules and etiquette of golf.

“The Scottish Golf Union are delighted to announce that they will once again be staging their annual Rules of Golf Course in March 2010.”

Open to golf club officials and members of the public the course will provide an insight to the rules by using practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions and interactive DVD presentations.

The course will be hosted by qualified instructors from both the Scottish Golf Union and Royal and Ancient Rules Department, all with experience of refereeing at some of Europe’s most elite amateur and professional tournaments.

A starter pack will be issued later this month complete with Rules books and sample papers for background reading.

The two day course will take place on Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19 and will culminate with an assessment.

The course is available as a residential package or course only. Spaces are limited and are available on a first come first served basis. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the SGU Events Department on 01334 466477 to book their place.
