Paisley course record broken twice in one day

THE Paisley Golf Club course record, which has stood for eight years, was equalled, then broken, in the space of two minutes.

Buddies Bryan Adam, 45, and his playing partner Garry Price, 37, were in stunning form to go down in the history books.

As they stood on the 17th tee, both were seven under par with Bryan having birdied the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 11th and 16th, while Garry had birdied the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 12th, 15th and 16th.

Garry proceeded to hit a nine-iron to 10 inches from the pin at the 162 yard par three, 17th and hole out for his 8th birdie of the evening while Bryan had to settle for a par.

The pressure was now on Garry but Bryan also knew that a four at the 443 yd 18th, would equal his course record. And he duly delivered with a drive and a crisp wedge to the green followed by two putts for his four.

Garry had also hit drive and a wedge to 40 ft. He knew that three putts would equal the course record of 64 but two putts would give him the record outright.

Club manager John Hillis said: “He stroked his approach putt to three feet and knocked in the short putt for the record. Congratulations to them.”

Both men are from Paisley and joined the club as junior members.
