OLD Ranfurly missed a great opportunity to reclaim top spot in the Renfrewshire Seniors Golf League.
The Bridge of Weir team had the chance to leapfrog leaders Ralston during the latest round of matches in the division – but it didn’t go to plan.
They ended up on the wrong side of a result against Cochrane Castle, losing their encounter 3-2.
As a result, Ralston remain a point in front.
But Cochrane Castle are very much back in the hunt and they are only a point adrift too, although they could have done much better after enjoying two outings in the division.
Ranfurly Castle enjoyed a successful return to action, beating Kilmacolm 4-1, while Renfrew closed in on the leading sides with a worthy 5-0 win over Paisley.
And Caldwell made it two wins out of two when they beat Cochrane Castle in the latter’s second outing of the week 3-2.
This result means Caldwell are finally off the foot of the table and in their place go Kilmacolm.
The latest round of results were as follows: Renfrew 5 Paisley 0, Ranfurly Castle 4 Kilmacolm 1, Caldwell 3 Cochrane Castle 2, Cochrane Castle 3 Old Ranfurly 2.
