Thrills and spills during latest installment of P&D Bowling League

THERE were plenty of high-scoring games when week three of the Paisley and District Bowling Association First Division campaign got under way.

No less than three teams scored 10 points or more, while four other clubs registered 8-8 draws.

The highest scoring side was Barrhead who defeated Anchor 14-2, while Caledonia stayed on top for another week with a resounding 12-4 win over Renfrew.

And Elderslie maintained their good form with a 10-6 victory when they faced Ralston.

Blacklandmill and Victoria fought out an 8-8 draw, while Charleston and Kilbarchan registered the same score when they met up.

In Division Two, Meikleriggs moved three points clear at the top of the table thanks to a 12-4 win over Wellmeadow.

Linwood, in second place, dropped some league points when they succumbed to a 9-7 defeat to Ferguslie.

The win for Ferguslie puts them in third position – and just three points adrift of second-placed Linwood.

It was a good week for Hawkhead as they defeated Neilston 11-5 to haul themselves up the table, while Priorscroft recorded a thumping 14-2 win over Abercorn.

In the Reserve Division, there is a two-way tie at the top with Charleston and Ralston looking down on the teams below them.

Charleston posted a 4-0 win against Meikleriggs to go to eight points so far, while Ralston posted the same scoreline against Elderslie to join Charleston on the summit.

The only other game played in the division saw Blacklandmill and Renfrew fight out a 2-2 draw.

Division Two results: Abercorn 2 Priorscroft 14, Ferguslie 9 Linwood 7, Hawkhead 11 Neilston 5, Meikleriggs 12 Wellmeadow 4.

Reserve League results: Blacklandmill 2 Renfrew 2, Charleston 4 Meikleriggs 0, Elderslie 0 Ralston 4. No games: Anchor, Caledonia.
