CHARLESTON, Inchinnan and Meikleriggs have all made ‘gr-eight’ starts in their bids to win the Paisley Veterans Bowling Association Short Carpet League.
On day one of the campaign, all three teams posted perfect scores.
Inchinnan thrashed Kilbarchan 8-0, while Charleston beat Priorscroft by the same margin.
Not to be outdone, Meikleriggs opened their indoor season with a well-worked 8-0 win over Blacklandmill and they take a joint share of the lead with the Charleston and Inchinnan outfits.
Ferguslie opened their campaign with a win, beating Renfrew 7-1, while Abercorn started brightly by beating Victoria 6-2.
There was frustration for Anchor as the Paisley side were held 4-4 with Hawkhead, while Caledonia defeated Ralston 6-2.
Week one results were as follows: Ferguslie 7 Renfrew 1, Kilbarchan 0 Inchinnan 8, Meikleriggs 8 Blacklandmill 0, Anchor 4 Hawkhead 4, Wellmeadow 6 Elderslie Wallace 2, Charleston 8 Priorscroft 0, Abercorn 6 Victoria 2, Ralston 2 Caledonia 6.
Week Two fixtures are: Renfrew v Ralston, Inchinnan v Ferguslie, Blacklandmill v Kilbarchan, Hawkhead v Meikleriggs, Elderslie Wallace v Anchor, Priorscroft v Wellmeadow, Victoria v Charleston, Caledonia v Abercorn.
