Comfortable win for Paisley Ladies

THE Ladies team at Paisley Indoor Bowling Club, in Wallneuk Road, had a comfortable time at home to Inverclyde as they romped to a 110-52 victory.

The result keeps their unbeaten record intact after two games and they sit two points behind section leaders Whiteinch but still have a game in hand.

The rink scores were as follows (Paisley first): K Houston 26 I Aitken 13, J Ritchie 32 J Morrison 13, H Dobson 23 S Munro 14, M Ronald 29 N Black 12.

There is no league game this week for the Ladies due to the National Singles contest in Arbroath on Saturday, when Paisley will be represented by Barbara Louden.

Her first game will be at 9.30am, against Sandra McLean, from Fraserburgh.

The Paisley Gents Seniors had a great 82-53 home win on Saturday against Prestwick that helps them into second place in their section. They sit two points behind Ardrossan and have a game in hand.

The rink scores were as follows (Paisley skips first): P Toner 22 M Higgins 12, T Pattison 12 W McArthur 16, P Duffy 34 M Sturgeon 11, N Rafferty 14 A Paxton 14.

The Seniors are away to Allander this Saturday and the team is as follows: W Wood, A Brittain, M McCreadie, D Martin, A Orr, E Irwin, D Brown, M Walsh, C Wilson, H Adams, W McMeekin, J Dalton, P Toner, P Duffy, N Rafferty and T Pattison.

The Senior Nationals start this weekend and the Paisley Seniors will be represented by David Dobson in the singles.

He will play an opponent from Irvine at 2pm, with the game taking place at Ardrossan.

Meanwhile, the Senior pairs who will be flying the flag for Paisley are Michael Walsh and Harry Adams.

They will play Inverclyde at Auchinleck, starting at 2pm.

And the Senior Triples team of Marshall McCreadie, Jim Miller and Tom Pattison will play East Kilbride at Auchinleck, with the first game due to get under way at 10am.

Unfortunately, there was no joy for Paisley in the National Singles as John Gilmartin lost his first game 21-17 to fellow internationalist Iain McLean.

Gilmartin will hope to gain revenge this Sunday when he is involved in the Champion of Champions event at Arbroath.

Paisley’s Gents, meanwhile, are away to West Lothian on Saturday and the team members will be as follows: S Fisher, C Millar, N Geddes, D Faulds, L Young, R Taylor, B Sinclair, A Weir, D Moffat, J O’Sullivan, I Cowan, C Bence, J Ross, D Stobo, D Fisher and J Gilmartin.

Paisley’s Wednesday ‘wappie’ last week was won by Norma Hood, Margaret Graham, Will Williamson and Andy McLaughlin, with a score of 12 up.

This Saturday will see the Hallowe’en Wappenschaw start at 4pm. There are only three spaces left, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to join the fun.

There will be a buffet served afterwards.
