ANCHOR and Caledonia both got their Paisley and District Indoor Bowling Association Division One campaign off to the perfect start with opening-day whitewashes.
The Seedhill and Greenock Road rivals wiped out sorry Kilbarchan and Crofthead with heavy defeats that left them stunned.
Anchor took on Neilston side Crofthead and won 8-0, as did Caledonia as they scuttled Kilbarchan by the same scoreline.
Charleston are sitting in third place after beating Elderslie Wallace 6-2, while Meikleriggs are one place behind – albeit on account of alphabetical order – having beaten Shanks 6-2.
Inchinnan also enjoyed a winning start to their campaign, but by a narrow 5-3 gap, after beating Blacklandmill, while Victoria and Johnstone drew 4-4. Meanwhile, in Division Two, Crookston and Linwood were both left dazed and confused after receiving hammerings on the opening day of the new season.
Hawkhead beat Crookston 8-0 to go top alongside Nitshill after they thrashed Linwood 8-0.
Inkerman are not far behind after a 7-1 victory against Ferguslie, while Barrhead enjoyed a 6-2 win over Neilston.
Wellmeadow had to settle for a share of the spoils with Woodlands in a 4-4 stalemate.
The action in Division Three does not get underway until today, however Reserve Division One saw four teams sharing the lead after day one.
Blacklandmill beat Charleston 4-2, as did Renfrew as they saw off Ralston, Anchor overcame Inchinnan A and Shanks, who beat Wellmeadow by the same 4-2 scoreline.
Caledonia and Inkerman, however, remain pointless after they were spared duty last week. In Reserve Division Two, Woodlands and Johnstone sit top of the table with a perfect record.
The former beat Hawkhead in an impressive 6-0 victory, while Johnstone whitewashed Victoria.
Linwood beat Inchinnan B 4-2, while Neilston fell to Barrhead by the same scoreline.
Elderslie Wallace and Meikleriggs were idle.
