Shanks crowned kings of the green

SHANKS Bowling Club were crowned Champions of the Johnstone and District Senior Bowling League 2011.

They finished top of the pile to clinch the title with a nine-point advantage over nearest rivals Bishopton.

Finishing in third place this season is Crofthead BC on 35 points, a good effort.

Brookfield B managed mid-table respectability, while Johnstone finished down the pecking order in fifth spot.

The last set of results were as follows: JG Fleming 0 Bishopton 4, Brookfield ‘A’ 0 Shanks 4, Lilybank 0 Crofthead 4.

In other news, the Paisley Veterans’ Bowling Association Short Carpet League gets under way next month on Wednesday, October 12.

The opening day fixtures are as follows: Ferguslie v Renfrew, Kilbarchan v Inchinnan, Meikleriggs v Blacklandmill, Anchor v Hawkhead, Wellmeadow v Elderslie Wallace, Charleston v Priorscroft, Abercorn v Victoria, Ralston v Caledonia.
