Indoor bowling: Hat-trick of wins before luck runs out

PAISLEY Indoor Bowling Club’s gents senior side saw their three-game winning streak brought to an abrupt end as they lost out to East Kilbride last weekend.

This Saturday the Buddies face a tough ask when they go head-to-head with league leaders Ardrossan.

In the Senior National Fours at Inverclyde last weekend the Paisley rink of Peter Turley, Jim Ross, Norrie Rafferty and Pat Duffy won their last 16 tie against Auchinleck 13-11 but came unstuck in the last eight against Irvine as they went down 23-8.

Paisley’s gents team entertain Midlothian in the Premier League today.

The team will line up with Derek Faulds, Jim O’Sullivan, Ian Cowan and Derek Moffat on rink one; Scott Colquhoun, Graeme Armour, Willie Killens and Johnny Ross on rink two; Grant Wilson, Michael Walsh, Drew Stobo and John Gilmartin on rink three, and Charlie Millar, Gordon Finniegan, Davy Nelson and Gary Wiggins on rink four.

Meanwhile, Graeme Armour’s hopes of national glory in the Junior Singles came to an end when he was beaten by East Kilbride’s player 21-15 in the second round after he’d beaten his Newton Stewart rival in his opener.

This Saturday’s Paisley’s ladies team are in league action against Cowal while the under-35s entertain Blantyre tomorrow in the return leg of their Friendship Tie.
