Rocky times for Anchor squad as Abercorn coast to easy victory

ANCHOR have been deposed at the top of the Paisley Veterans Bowling Association Short Carpet League.

The Paisley side slumped to a heavy 7-1 defeat at the hands of Abercorn and thus fall two points behind the new leading duo – Inchinnan – and the team that defeated them, Abercorn.

Inchinnan rose to the top thanks to a wonderful 8-0 whitewash of Caledonia.

And now there is really everything to play for at the top of the division.

Meikleriggs continued their steady climb upwards thanks to an 8-0 demolition job over Ferguslie.

Meanwhile Ralston are also moving in the right direction following the same winning scoreline against Victoria.

Blacklandmill were left disappointed after they slumped to a 6-2 defeat to Wellmeadow, while Kilbarchan suffered the same scoreline when they lost to Charleston.

Priorscroft’s woes continued for another week when they were thrashed 8-0 by Hawkhead, a result that leaves them two points adrift at the foot of the table.

Week four results were: Ralston 8 Victoria 0, Priorscroft 0 Hawkhead 8, Meikleriggs 8 Ferguslie 0, Lochfield 4 Elderslie 4, Kilbarchan 2 Charleston 6, Inchinnan 8 Caledonia 0, Wellmeadow 6 Blacklandmill 2, Abercorn 7 Anchor 1. Renfrew were the idle team.

Week Five fixtures are: Renfrew v Priorscroft, Victoria v Meikleriggs, Hawkhead v Lochfield, Ferguslie v Kilbarchan, Elderslie v Inchinnan, Charleston v Wellmeadow, Caledonia v Abercorn, Blacklandmill v Anchor. Ralston are the idle team.
