THERE was heartache for the Paisley Indoor Bowling Club Gents team during their latest competitive outing in the league.
The Buddies travelled through to Lanarkshire and had a great opportunity to harvest two points from a difficult venue.
And they almost did it – but then they threw the game away after a real collapse late on.
At one stage the Buddies had a 20-point lead but the home team pegged them back before running out 89-85 winners.
The scores were as follows: J Ross 19 R Grant 31 Gary Wiggins 27 A McIntyre 15, J Gilmartin 20, J Meikle 19 W Killins 19, R Gordon 24.
This Saturday the Paisley team face league leaders Auchinleck away from home.
Meanwhile, the Seniors team improved their recent form after three successive defeats by beating Ayr away from home 66-54.
The scores were: J Cruikshank 18 D Graham 10, T Pattison 21 T Kildy 12, P Duffy 15 G Hodge 18, J Dalton 12 R Storrie 14.
This weekend the Seniors travel to East Kilbride.
In other news the Paisley Ladies had no game as the National Indoor Singles took place at Wallneuk Road.
And there was disappointment for Kathy Houston as the Paisley champion crashed out in the first round 21-19.
This Saturday the Ladies team entertain Inverclyde.
