Bowling: Anchor’s tree-mendous victory

INCHINNAN’S one week stay at the top of Paisley Veterans Bowling Association’s Short Carpet League has come to an abrupt end.

In fact, the table-toppers weren’t just deposed at the top of the tree, they were slung from the top branches in devastating fashion.

The Inchinnan boys were sent spinning to a humiliating 8-0 thrashing at the hands of triumphant Anchor.

And, to rub salt into their wounds, Anchor have therefore marched to the top of the table with a four point lead.

Inchinnan are now way down in fourth spot.

And they are left wondering just where it all went wrong.

One team on the way up. though, is Abercorn.

The Paisley team beat Wellmeadow 6-2 and moved into joint second position.

Joining them on 17 points is Caledonia after the Caley boys posted an important 6-2 win over Lochfield.

Elderslie enjoyed a fine return to form, taking the scalp of Priorscroft 8-0 to move into joint fourth position.

However Charleston slumped to a 5-3 defeat to Meikleriggs.

Kilbarchan upset the apple cart when they posted a good 6-2 win over Blacklandmill, while Ralston lost 6-2 to Ferguslie.

Week three results were as follows: Hawkhead 5 Renfrew 3, Ferguslie 6 Ralston 2, Elderslie 8 Priorscroft 0, Charleston 3 Meikleriggs 5, Caledonia 6 Lochfield 2, Blacklandmill 2 Kilbarchan 6, Anchor 8 Inchinnan 0, Abercorn 6 Wellmeadow 2. Victoria are the idle side.

Week four fixtures are: Ralston v Victoria, Priorscroft v Hawkhead, Meikleriggs v Ferguslie, Lochfield v Elderslie, Kilbarchan v Charleston, Inchinnan v Caledonia, Wellmeadow v Blacklandmill, Abercorn v Anchor.

The idle side this particular week are Renfrew.
