Bowling: Kathy sets sights on national glory

TOP bowlers will head for Paisley this weekend to compete in the Scottish National Indoor Singles Championships.

The prestigious ladies’ event is being staged at Paisley Indoor Bowling Club, in Wallneuk Road.

And all eyes will be on local favourite Kathy Houston tomorrow as she bids to book her place in the latter stages of the competition.

Kathy, who lives in Cochrane Castle, Johnstone, is a member of Paisley Indoor Bowling Club.

And it’s hoped the club singles champion can go all the way in her bid for glory.

A spokesman for the tournament organisers said: “This is the first time Paisley has hosted this prestigious event and large crowds are expected over the two days.

“Kathy will be hoping to take advantage of her local knowledge.”

The action starts at 10am tomorrow and continues until Sunday afternoon, when competitors will battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.

East Lothian Bowling Club will stage the semi-finals and final over the weekend of Saturday, November 29, and Sunday, November 30.

Admission to this weekend’s matches at the Paisley event is free of charge.
