Bowling: It's all change at the top!

VICTORIA and Woodlands took advantage of slip-ups by Kilbarchan and Inchinnan to climb to the top of the Paisley and District Indoor Bowling Association Division One table.

The ’Vics held their nerve in a tight encounter against Wellmeadow to run out 5-3 winners while Woodlands were in imperious form as they slaughtered Shanks 7-1.

Last week’s leaders Kilbarchan slumped to a shock 8-0 reverse to Meikleriggs while Inchinnan went down by the same score to Hawkhead.

Those results leave the Vics and Woodlands out in front on 21 points with Kilbarchan sitting on 20 and Inchinnan a point further back in a tie for fourth with Hawkhead.

Wellmeadow slip to sixth on 18 points while Meikleriggs join them on that total after their whitewash win over the Habbies.

JG Fleming climbed off bottom spot with a a 6-2 win over Renfrew and are now 10th with the ’Frew dropping to ninth.

Blacklandmill now occupy the wooden spoon position alongside Shanks after their 4-4 draw with Inkerman which saw the Inks move up to eighth spot.

Anchor remain top of Division Two after their win at Charleston although Johnstone cut their advantage to three points after romping to victory over Barrhead.

The table-toppers ran out 6-2 winners against Charleston and are in pole position with 26 points while Johnstone battered Barrhead 7-1 to close the gap in second.

Elderslie Wallace held onto third spot with 18 points despite going down 5-3 to Linwood who climb into a tie for sixth.

Caledonia moved up into a share of fourth after defeating Midton 5-3 and are joined by Nitshill who jumped up from second bottom with a 6-2 thumping of Neilston.

Crofthead remain bottom of the rung despite securing a 5-3 success over Spateston who drop to 11th in the standings.

Eaglesham leapfrogged Ferguslie at the top of Division Three after their 8-0 battering of Abercorn and are a point clear of the Paisley side on 26.

The ’Lie were also victorious and secured a 6-2 win over Priorscroft but Eaglesham’s whitewash knocked them off top spot.

Abercorn stay third despite their heavy loss with Paisley Comrades sharing fourth, although they were idle, alongside Priorscroft and Ralston who climbed from ninth after a great 6-2 win over Lilybank.

Crookston move up a place to seventh after their 4-4 draw with Bridge of Weir who remain joint bottom alongside the British Legion who weren’t in action.

Renfrew took advantage of Neilston’s inactivity to go top of the First Reserve Division after their 6-0 win over basement side St Mirren.

The ’Ton are joined in second spot six points adrift of the leaders by Wellmeadow who defeated Blacklandmill 4-2.

The ’Mill stay fourth a point ahead of Anchor in fifth who recorded a 4-2 win over sixth-placed Woodlands.

Caledonia and Shanks are also in a tie for sixth after the latter’s 4-2 victory over the former while Inchinnan A drop to ninth after being idle.

Ferguslie moved into joint first place in the Second Reserve Division after defeating Meikleriggs 4-2 while last week’s league leaders Charleston were inactive.

Inchinnan B moved up to third after their 6-0 bashing of Barrhead and are a point off top spot.

Inkerman move into the top half of the table after their 4-2 win over Linwood and they are joined in a share of fifth by Elderslie Wallace after the Bravehearts crushed basement strugglers Victoria 6-0.

Division Two: Charleston 2 Anchor 6, Linwood 5 Elderslie Wallace 3, Barrhead 1 Johnstone 7, Nitshill 6 Neilston 2, Crofthead 5 Spateston 3, Caledonia 5 Midton 3.

Division Three: Abercorn 0 Eaglesham 8, Lilybank 2 Ralston 6, Crookston 4 Bridge of Weir 4, Priorscroft 2 Ferguslie 6.
