Bowling: Habbies sweet demolition job

KILBARCHAN remain out in front at the top of the Paisley and District Indoor Bowling Association First Division after week three, courtesy of a crushing defeat handed out to JG Fleming.

The Habbies secured an 8-0 whitewash of JG Fleming to maintain their one-point lead at the top of the table, while their vanquished opponents slip to the bottom of the pile.

Inchinnan leapfrogged Victoria into second place after their equally impressive 8-0 success against Meikleriggs, who drop into the bottom half of the table following that heavy loss.

Victoria drop back to third after they were forced to share the spoils with Shanks following a 4-4 stalemate. They now sit four points adrift of leaders Kilbarchan, while Shanks drop a place to 10th.

Wellmeadow are a point behind Victoria in fourth after they narrowly edged out Hawkhead 5-3 in a tight encounter that sees the visitors remain in sixth spot.

Woodlands moved up to fifth after an impressive 6-2 win at Inkerman, while Renfrew moved off the bottom after defeating Blacklandmill 6-2 in a basement battle and are now in eighth spot.

Anchor increased their advantage at the top of Division Two to four points with an emphatic 8-0 drubbing of Linwood, while their nearest challengers Charleston and Caledonia suffered resounding defeats.

Charleston were thumped 7-1 by Spateston and drop to sixth, while Elderslie Wallace handed Caledonia a hefty hammering by the same score and move up to third position. Their defeated rivals drop to seventh.

Johnstone took advantage of those slip-ups to move into second after they defeated Nitshill 6-2 and Barrhead are up to fourth after grabbing a hard-fought 5-3 win at Midton.

Neilston moved into the top half of the table with a superb 8-0 triumph over bottom dogs Crofthead.

In Division Three, Ferguslie moved into top spot with an 8-0 demolition of former leaders Abercorn, who slip to third, and are a point ahead of second-placed Eaglesham, who ran out 6-2 winners over Lilybank.

Paisley Comrades remain in fourth spot after a 4-4 draw with Priorscroft, who move up to fifth.

Ralston moved off the bottom courtesy of a 4-4 stalemate with the British Legion and are replaced by Bridge of Weir, who were inactive.

Neilston and Renfrew remain level-pegging at the top of the First Reserve Division after both sides enjoyed 4-2 victories over St Mirren and Blacklandmill respectively.

Those results leave the ’Mill in fourth spot, while Saints slip to the bottom of the table.

Wellmeadow remain in third place but slipped further off the pace after slumping to a surprise 4-2 reverse to Woodlands.

And Caledonia moved off the bottom of the table by grabbing their first points of the season in their 6-0 whitewash of Anchor.

Charleston maintained their four-point advantage at the summit of the Second Reserve Division, despite going down 4-2 to Ferguslie, after second-placed Meikleriggs were beaten by the same score by Inchinnan B.

Ferguslie moved up to third after their shock win, while Inchinnan B creep into the top half of the table.

Barrhead claimed their first points of the season with a 6-0 win over Johnstone which also lifted them from the foot of the table into seventh, while their defeated rivals slip to second bottom.

Inkerman also climbed up the table to sixth with a 4-2 win over Victoria which sent their opponents to the bottom of the league.
