PAISLEY Indoor Bowling Club’s Gents team kicked off their season in the Premier League with an awayday to Blantyre.
And although the Buddies had hoped to get their season off to a flyer, this was always going to be a tricky encounter and Paisley came unstuck, losing 98-66.
The rink scores were as follows: J Ross 19 A Kelly 16, A Stobo 13 J McCann 25, D Moffat 20 I McLean 29, J Gilmartin 14 B Irvine 28.
With only one winning rink of D Faulds, A MacLean, S Colquhoun and J Ross, the Paisley side are hoping for better fortunes when they entertain Bainfield tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Ladies League team started off their campaign with a home game against Blantyre and they enjoyed a good 82-73 victory.
The scores were as follows: J Ritchie 20 S Hamilton 13, M Barr 13 B Forsyth 27, H Dobson 23 M Archibald 18, AM Fletcher 26 M Letham 15.
Tomorrow, the Ladies travel to Ardrossan.
After losing out to Ardrossan at home in their last encounter the Seniors side at Paisley travelled to Irvine.
But the team slumped to a disappointing 70-68 shots defeat.
The rink scores were as follows: J Cruikshanks won 23-16, P Duffy drew 18-18, W Wood lost 14-17 and T Pattison lost 13-19.
The Seniors must win their fixture with Lanarkshire at home this Saturday or face an uphill task to get their campaign back on track.
On Sunday, the Playdowns for the National Two Bowl Pairs take place at Ayr Bowling Club and Steven Fisher and David Fisher represent Paisley.
