KILBARCHAN and Victoria are the new teams to beat at the top of the Paisley and District Indoor Bowling Association First Division.
They capitalised on a defeat to Hawkhead to overtake the Paisley team and lay down an early marker over their title credentials this season.
Hawkhead were sitting joint top of the division after the last round of games but a 6-2 defeat to Meikleriggs has sent them spinning down to fourth spot.
In contrast, Kilbarchan coasted to an easy 6-2 win over Blacklandmill to move on to 12 points, while Victoria did the same with a carbon-copy scoreline against Inkerman.
Inchinnan are still well in contention after they defeated JG Fleming 5-3 to tuck themselves in behind the leading duo.
At the other end of the table Renfrew slumped to bottom spot after they lost 6-2 to Woodlands.
In Division Two, Anchor experienced a difficult outing after they could only post a 4-4 draw with Caledonia.
However, the result is still good enough to keep them on top for another week.
Barrhead were chasing Anchor’s tail but they were sent spinning to a heavy 8-0 defeat at the hands of Nitshill.
Charleston took full advantage of Barrhead’s defeat to move into second spot when they posted a good 7-1 victory over Neilston, while Johnstone enjoyed a morale-boosting 6-2 win over Crofthead.
Spateston suffered a heavy 6-2 loss at the hands of Linwood and Elderslie Wallace whitewashed Midton 8-0.
In Division Three Abercorn maintained their two point lead over their nearest rivals.
The table-toppers managed to post a 6-2 win over the Paisley Comrades, while Eaglesham move into second spot following their 6-2 win over the British Legion.
Crookston were the idle team in the division and they have fallen down from second spot to fifth place as a result.
Priorscroft and Bridge of Weir could not be separated and they fought out a 4-4 draw, while Lilybank and Ferguslie locked horns and played out a 3-3 draw.
Meanwhile, it’s a case of as you were for Neilston and Renfrew in Reserve League Division One.
Neilston kept up their winning ways when they beat Blacklandmill 4-2 and Renfrew did the same by posting the same score against Woodlands.
Wellmeadow moved up to second spot thanks to a great performance against Caledonia that culminated in a 6-0 win, while Shanks were on the wrong end of a 6-0 score when they took on Anchor.
And Inchinnan A are heading in the right direction after they put St Mirren to the sword 5-1.
Charleston have opened up a four-point gap at the top of the Second Reserve Division.
The Paisley boys moved clear thanks to their 6-0 demolition job over Inchinnan B, while nearest rivals Meikleriggs were beaten 4-2 by Johnstone.
Linwood, though, are closing in on the leading sides after they defeated Ferguslie 4-2, while Inkerman suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat when they tackled Elderslie Wallace.
