Top referee Craig Thomson has been rewarded for a string of impressive performances around the world.
The Paisley man was presented with the FIFA international refereeing badge in recognition of his work overseas.
Elite category referee Thomson, 40, has impressed FIFA bosses with the way he has handled international fixtures.
And he becomes a member of a select band of Scottish whistlers who have been handed the prestigious honour.
John Fleming, head of referee development at the Scottish Football Association, said: “We can nominate referees for international recognition and the chances are that will be ratified by FIFA. It is then up to the referee to progress through the ranks.
“Last year our the best in 10 years and I believe 2013 will be another exciting year for Scottish referees.
“Craig Thomson performed well at Euro 2012 and is in the draft list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
“The good thing is that our referees are performing well internationally and sustaining their performances the higher they get.
“We have other referees that are on the development list who we hope will become our next FIFA referees, so the programme is looking good as far as the Scottish FA is concerned.”
