Danny Lennon insists his players have learned their lesson after being humbled by lowly Ayr United last season.
St Mirren were sent spinning out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stage as the Honest Men recorded a shock 1-0 win Paisley.
Lennon admits that midweek night in October last year was one of the most painful experiences he has suffered during his time in charge of Saints.
However, he is confident that his players can make up for that defeat and gain revenge when the Ayrshire team return to Paisley tonight.
Lennon said: “We certainly learned from that game and added a few things to our play in the wake of it.
“That defeat spurred us on to our highest SPL position in a long time, while Ayr ended up being relegated and replaced their manager.
“Mark Roberts has the job now and I wish him all the best...but only after this cup tie is out of the way!”
