ST MIRREN kid Kieran Doran has been handed an early birthday present after he was given a surprise cap call.
The Pro-Youth forward has been named in the Scotland Under-17 squad that will take on Belgium next week in an international double header.
The youngster – who turns 16 today – has been rewarded for his fine form playing with St Mirren youth supremo David Longwell’s squads.
He will now join up with the 20-man group of Dark Blues youngsters who will take on the Belgians in two friendly clashes to be played at the Forthbank Stadium in Stirling on Tuesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 30.
Also named in the Scots squad is rising Real Madrid star Jack Harper.
A Saints spokesman said: “Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Kieran on his international call-up.”
Meanwhile, Saints supporters will be able to pay at the gate when Scotland’s Under-21s take on Luxembourg in their next UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying clash on Thursday, September 6. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
Adult tickets for the West Stand are priced £8, while concessions are £2.
