ST MIRREN will aim to strike a red line through Motherwell’s hopes of three points this Sunday when they run out in their new away kit for the first time.
The Buddies yesterday unveiled the second strip that will be used during the 2012-13 season with bosses predicting that it will go down a hit with fans.
The stylish new jersey, right, – which will be worn for the first time at Fir Park – features a diagonal red stripe on a black background and will go on sale from Thursday, September 6.
The kit, produced by new official kit suppliers Diadora, will be available from the JD stores at the Paisley Centre, Braehead and Silverburn as well as online at jdsports.co.uk
Now bosses from the sportswear store have also announced that children who are collecting their new away shirts, pre-ordered as part of the season-ticket voucher scheme, will be able to do so at an exclusive event on the evening of September 5, with details to be confirmed soon.
Saints switched to Diadora last season and the move has proved successful so far, with kit sales this season alone topping the 1,000-mark – almost double the sales figures from previous years.
St Mirren Commercial Director Richard Atkinson said: “The support we received last season, and into the start of this new season, has been superb – no more evident than in the kit sales increase.
“We are very grateful to Diadora for their assistance in helping us reward this through the child shirt voucher with all new junior season tickets. Having an extra 1,000 children wearing the shirt with pride can only bode well for the future of the club.”
Guy Walker, JD Sports Head of Football, added: “We are very proud to support St Mirren and the club’s progress both on and off the field is very pleasing.
“The shirt sales have been very encouraging and we are sure the new away kit will see a similar positive reaction, particularly with the fantastic season ticket offer for the juniors.”
