Danny looks forward to splashing the cash

BUDDIES boss Danny Lennon reckons he might finally have some wiggle room in the transfer market after the uncertainty surrounding the new television deals for Scottish football became clearer.

Last week, it was announced that Sky would broadcast 30 live SPL games a season for the next five years.

And bosses at ESPN have also secured a similar package that will see them continue to back the Scottish game until 2017.

Both agreements mean Scottish clubs will now receive a proportion of the television rights as from this month – although they will bank a smaller sum than they would have received under last season’s agreement.

Lennon admits that, in the current financial climate, every penny is a prisoner for clubs such as St Mirren but he remains eager to strengthen his squad if at all possible.

He said: “I’m not certain on what the figures are but I’m led to believe there may be some money available, so it’s all about selecting the right player.”
