BUDDIES boss Danny Lennon will decide the fate of trialists Sean Lynch and Stephen Glass by the end of this week, Express Sports can reveal.
The pair have been training with the first team squad at Ralston as they look to win deals for next season.
Both Lynch and Glass have been involved in St Mirren’s two pre-season games to date and Lennon has been keeping a close eye on their progress,
Lennon said: “We still have Sean and Stephen here with us and they are still training but we are getting to the stage where I’ll need to make a decision on them.”
Lynch, 23, was released by Falkirk boss Steven Pressley after the Bairns took the drop into the First Division this summer.
He also played at Hibs under John Collins before being freed when Mixu Paatelainen took over as manager at Easter Road.
Former Aberdeen, Newcastle United and Hibs star Glass, 34, was on the books at Dunfermline Athletic last season but only made one league appearance for the Pars as his campaign was cut short by a troublesome knee injury.
However, there have been indications in St Mirren’s pre-season games that those injury worries are now behind him.
Glass even managed to score a long-range goal against Ayr United in last week’s friendly match at Somerset Park as the Buddies racked up a 3-1win.
Meanwhile, Lennon is on the trail of a Scots-based player who is currently on a pre-season tour with his club.
The Saints manager was yesterday remaining tight-lipped on the identity of the player but he revealed that a financial package has been agreed between the Buddies and the club in question.
Now Lennon is waiting to hear if the player is happy to make the move to Paisley.
He said: “The club in question is on tour at the moment but I hope to have a decision within the next 24 hours or so.
“The guy can play in numerous positions. He can play off the front, he can play in the wider area and he’s equally comfortable playing in midfield. He’ll be a good catch if we can get him.
“The clubs have agreed a financial package and it’s just a question of whether or not we’re able to persuade the boy to come here.”
Lennon has already secured the services of Cowdenbeath quartet Darren McGregor, Peter Bradley, Paul McQuade and Gareth Wardlaw, along with David van Zanten, Craig Samson, Marc McAusland and Jure Travner, since taking over as St Mirren manager.
