Gus wants heroics in Scottish Cup

BUDDIES boss Gus MacPherson is urging his players to produce some more cup heroics tonight when they enter the lions den at Ibrox.

St Mirren go into tonights Active Nation Scottish Cup fifth round replay against Rangers as massive underdogs.

But MacPherson, below, is confident his men can give the Light Blues a run for their money if they produce the same sort of performance they managed in the original tie at St Mirren Park 11 days ago, which ended 0-0.

He said: We have to go to Ibrox and play like we did in the first game against Rangers.

We need to show the same type of attitude and we have to play with a belief that we can get a result.

MacPherson knows everything he needs to know about the Old Firm giants as he was at Ibrox on Sunday to witness their 3-0 demolition of high-flying Hibs in the SPL a result that has put them 10 points clear in the race for the league title.

And, while everyone outside of St Mirren Park would appear to have written off his teams chances of causing a major upset tonight, MacPherson has warned it would be foolish to underestimate the Buddies.

He said: In every game we play, its about St Mirren Football Club, not about the opposition.

We have to perform, no matter what system we play, and we have to compete in order to get a result.

We trust our group of players and, over the last five or six weeks, I cant fault them in terms of their effort and commitment.

Im sure well get all that in abundance again at Ibrox.
