SAINTS skipper John Potter is almost certain to miss out on this weekend’s cup clash with Alloa.
The centre-half limped out of last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock after just 40 minutes with a hamstring problem and, yesterday, Buddies boss Gus MacPherson said it could be two or three weeks before the injury heals properly.
He said: “We have more or less ruled John out of the match with Alloa, although he is receiving treatment morning and afternoon at the moment.”
MacPherson insists he will have no worries about turning to last Saturday’s goal hero, Chris Innes, to fill the void left by Potter’s absence.
He added: “Chris came off the bench on Saturday and did what we expect of him. He had a solid game but he has done that for us so often.
“Lee Mair has also been doing well and I reckon his performance against Killie was his best yet in a Saints jersey, so we have no worries in that department.
“We might not have the biggest squad in the world but we do have competition for places and that’s comforting.”
