BUDDIES manager Gus MacPherson last night said his players will hit the ground running when they return for pre-season training next week.
MacPherson’s men will report back to St Mirren Park on Monday morning to prepare for the 2009/10 campaign.
And he has revealed that the players will have their running shoes on all week as they step up their journey along the road to peak fitness.
MacPherson said: “It will be the usual routine for pre-season.
“We’ll start off by taking the players up to Bellahouston Park for running.
“That’s what we’ve been doing for the last five or six years.
“The only difference this year is that our pre-season games begin the week after.
“In previous seasons, we usually had another week before we got round to playing games.
“As always, those games will be used purely as fitness exercises.”
Saints will move into their new training base at Allanton playing fields in Ralston later in the year, where they will have everything they need to keep them ticking over.
