SAINTS skipper for the day Jack Ross has allayed fears that he’s struggling to be fit for Saturday’s Homecoming Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with Rangers at Hampden.
Ross pulled up during Saturday’s fabulous 2-0 SPL win over Motherwell at Fir Park and eventually had to be replaced by David Barron in the closing stages of the match.
It had been feared that Ross, 32, tweaked his hamstring, which would have made him a serious doubt for Saturday.
But the former Falkirk skipper revealed that he was just running on empty and sustained only a bout of cramp.
He explained: “I was running on empty and the petrol light was flashing.
“I just cramped up. It was one of those games where I felt a little bit lethargic but I managed to see it out as long as I could.
“But thankfully it’s nothing more serious, I’m all right.”
Ross has already set his thoughts on St Mirren’s biggest Scottish Cup game in 22 years this weekend and added: “It will be my first time playing at Hampden, so I’m looking forward to it.”
