THERE was more international recognition for St Mirren yesterday as it was confirmed that Sean Burns has been selected for the Scotland Under-19 squad that will take part in a training camp next week.
Burns, who has blossomed under the guidance of St Mirren’s head of youth development David Longwell, will head to Clydebank for the training camp.
It takes place from Monday, April 13, until Wednesday, April 15.
The Scotland Under-19s will also play two closed door games during their get-together.
The decision to bring Burns into the Scotland squad is a major boost for the talented teenage striker.
And it’s also the third international call-up that has been celebrated by St Mirren in recent weeks.
Both midfielder Stephen McGinn and defender Marc McAusland were members of the Scotland Under-21 squad that took on Albania in European qualifying matches home and away.
McGinn marked his call-up by grabbing a stunning final goal in the Scots’ 5-2 win against the Albanians at the Falkirk Stadium a week ago.
