Dorman's gutted after missing golden chance

GUTTED midfielder Andy Dorman admitted personal glory is irrelevant after his Buddies came back down the A9 with nothing to show for their efforts following Saturday’s 2-1 SPL defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle.

Dorman went from a goal-scoring Saint to second half disappointment up at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium against Terry Butcher’s side.

The former New England Revolution star pounced on a defensive blunder from Lionel Djebi-Zadi before lashing the ball beyond goalkeeper Michael Fraser to give Saints a 1-0 lead after just seven minutes of play.

However, two goals from Inverness midfielder Filip Morais either side of the half gave Butcher’s side a lead they never relinquished.

But Dorman could have salvaged a point for Gus MacPherson’s side in the 74th minute when he latched on to a Jim Hamilton shot that came back off the body of Fraser.

Agonisingly, though, Dorman watched in complete horror when he saw his close range effort crash off the crossbar.

Devastated Dorman said: “It was a great chance.

“I don’t know if it was their keeper or centre-back but someone definitely got a touch on it and put it on to the bar.

“Then it’s bounced over Craig Dargo’s head after that.

“So that was disappointing because I should have scored.

“It’s obviously a disappointing result.

“We had a good start against them and I thought we were reasonably comfortable, obviously up until their goal.

“The goal itself in the second half kind of killed us. We didn’t manage to get back into the game after that.”

Despite his glaring miss Dorman added to his personal goals tally, notching number eight at the weekend with his first half goal.

But he couldn’t care less.

He said: “It’s just so irrelevant now.

“Obviously the ball broke nicely for me for the opening goal.

“But it was all about the result, going up there.

“That goal just doesn’t matter now.”
