AFTER the disappointment of losing their unbeaten record last Friday night at the Citadel at the hands of Troon, St Mirren Senior Men have the perfect opportunity to get the show back on the road when arch-rivals City of Edinburgh Kings come calling to The Lagoon Leisure Centre tonight.
This promises to be nothing less than a classic basketball game as Saints battle to stay in top spot in the National League.
Saints Head Coach Stuart Glass has promised that, with a hard week’s training behind them, the guys will be ready and focused for the game which tips off at 8.15pm.
With the Cadette women having a free weekend before their double header next week, the Junior and Senior Women head through to Portobello to face Kool Kats in games that both the Reid Kerr College backed teams will be looking to win to keep their title aspirations intact.
Also on Saturday it’s the opening games of the Cadet and Junior Men National League Division One, and both teams have qualified comfortably from the Conference Leagues. The opening games see Troon Tornadoes hosting the Saints at Marr College.
Meanwhile, the Superleague completed its long awaited move to Paisley’s Lagoon when they launched this season’s fixtures on Friday night.
With two courts running at the same time there was plenty of action and at least 60 parents were on hand to cheer on their youngsters, creating a great atmosphere.
Chief Executive Lindsay Lang was delighted with the first night in their new home saying: “This was an awesome sight seeing so many players having a great time right in the heart of Paisley.
“We will go from strength to strength playing in such a superb venue.”
With more than 80 youngsters aged 10 -13 taking part, the future for basketballpaisley looks bright.
