Saints will back Scottish poppy appeal

SAINTS will team up with every other club in the SPL this weekend to help raise awareness of the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Gus MacPherson’s side will take to the field to play Hearts this Saturday at Love Street with poppies emblazoned on their shirts.

For the first time ever, every SPL club will wear poppies over the weekend of Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9 – Remembrance Sunday.

It’s hoped that, with the backing of all the clubs, the public awareness of the Scottish Poppy Appeal will grow significantly ahead of Sunday.

The initiative was launched yesterday afternoon by Hearts midfielder and Poppyscotland ambassador Michael Stewart, along with executive chairman of the SPL Lex Gold, at Falkirk Stadium.

Poppyscotland, formerly the Earl Haig Fund Scotland, was founded in 1921 to provide practical help to ex-servicemen and women and their dependents living in this country.
