Youngsters ready for Rangers clash

ST MIRREN’S under-19s will be aiming to emulate the heroics of the first team when they take on Rangers today at McKenna Park.

Gus MacPherson’s Buddies defeated the Old Firm giants 1-0 on Sunday and under-19s boss David Longwell will be eager to record a win this afternoon when his side takes on the Ibrox young guns.

The game kicks-off at 1pm and is the first of two matches Longwell’s side will negotiate this week.

On Sunday, the under-19s will take on Montrose at Love Street in the second round of the SFA Youth Cup.

That game will kick-off at 2pm and, like today’s match at McKenna Park, admission is free.

Meanwhile, St Mirren fans are being asked to note that the opening hours at the Love Street ticket office will be reduced until Monday, October 20.

This is because the first team has no home games until the beginning of November and the next two away games in the SPL are pay-at-the-gate affairs.

Supporters can still visit the ticket office on Mondays to Fridays from 10am until 2pm.
