Saints win makes a bit of history

SAINTS created a little history following yesterday’s 1-0 win over Rangers at Love Street.

It’s the first time the club has beaten the Old Firm giants at Love Street in the league since April 1986 – 22 long years ago.

However, Buddies boss Gus MacPherson reckons there are more memorable matches hopefully still on the horizon as the countdown begins to the leaving of Love Street.

He said: “I was not aware that it’s 22 years since we last beat Rangers at Love Street but there is so much history attached to the club and there is always new stats getting thrown as us.

“But we’ve already said that we are running out of games here and we would like to make each one memorable for all the right reasons.

“Hopefully, by gaining three points, people will remember Love Street for all the right reasons.”

He added: “We will look forward to the remaining games but first, we have two difficult away games coming up and the new stadium will take care of itself.”
