Billy keen to get one over on pal Kirk

HOT-SHOT Billy Mehmet last night revealed he is desperate to leave his old Buddie Kirk Broadfoot feeling blue this weekend.

The pals were team-mates at Love Street for two years before Broadfoot clinched a dream move to Rangers in the summer of 2007.

Mehmet, pictured right, is delighted that Broadfoot has established himself at Ibrox and gone on to earn his first Scotland cap.

But the big striker is still determined to get one over on his pal in Sunday’s SPL clash.

Mehmet said: “I would be good to give big Kirk a torrid time. It’s going to be great playing against him again.

“He’s done really well at Rangers and is now a Scotland star but we won’t be thinking about that on Sunday.

“Our main focus will be on ourselves and how we play.

“Having said that, it would be good to get one over on him this weekend.”

Mehmet, 24, is enjoying a great run of form that has seen him climb to the top of the Saints scoring charts, with a magnificent seven goals to his name already this season.

And he admits he’d like nothing more than to add to his tally come Sunday and help give the Buddies a fighting chance of getting a favourable result.

“In our last few games against Rangers, we’ve done well and have been unlucky not to get better results,” said Mehmet. “However, those games are in the past now and we have to look forward.

“Hopefully, we can pass the ball around well on Sunday but we’ll also have to win our individual battles on the pitch. If we can do that, then we can take something from the game.

“We are going into the game with confidence because we do have players in the dressing room who are more than capable of helping us get a good result.”
