Highland fling for reserves

THERE was a return to winning ways for St Mirren’s second string yesterday afternoon as they recorded a 2-1 victory over Inverness Caley Thistle at the Tulloch Stadium.

The Buddies dominated the first half against the Highlanders and it was Tom Brighton who put the visitors ahead.

Brighton now has two reserve goals to his credit so far this season.

Saints increased their advantage before the half-time interval when fellow striker Craig Dargo netted against his old club.

Back came Caley in an evenly-matched second half and they managed to reduce the deficit but the Buddies kept them out for the remainder of the game and ensured that all three points returned down the A9 to Paisley.

St Mirren’s next scheduled encounter in the SPL Reserve League is at home to Falkirk, with a date yet to be confirmed.
