Defeat’s a bitter lesson for youngsters

SAINTS Under-19s slumped to their second successive league defeat at McKenna Park.

David Longwell’s young guns lost heavily 4-0 to Falkirk in a match the visitors wrapped up as early as the first half.

Saints were sent spinning in the first half as they conceded three goals and the Bairns piled on the misery with the fourth goal after the break.

And Longwell reckons his side must learn from their bitter defeat.

He said: “It was a very disappointing result against Falkirk but credit to them because they were the hungrier side on the day.

“Falkirk started the game much better than we did and they were 3-0 up at half-time.

“This is a learning curve for our group of players and they’ll need to bounce back for our next game against Motherwell. Our boys have set certain standards this season and now they must work hard to try to get those standards back again.”
