THE BEAUTIFUL game descended into a war of attrition at St Mirren Park as Danny Lennon's Buddies were held at home to a rugged St Johnstone side.

Lennon's side showed glimpses of what has won them many plaudits over the last few weeks- but that panache still failed to breach a well drilled Perth outfit.

Defender Illias Haddad won his first start in a St Mirren jersey at the expense of Marc McAusland in the only change to the starting 11 from the Celtic game.
