Buddies full-back Paul Dummett is facing a race against time to be fit for Friday’s night SPL with clash with Motherwell.
The on-loan Newcastle United defender, 21, sustained a toe injury during Saturday’s 2-0 league defeat to Celtic.
However, Saints boss Danny Lennon is hopeful that the Geordie defender will recover to take his place in the squad for the visit of Motherwell. Lennon said: “Wee Paul Dummett has got a bit of a sore toe but he should be fine.”
Meanwhile, Lennon said he drafted comeback king Paul McGowan into his weekend squad for Parkhead as a reward for the talent midfielder’s hard graft in training.
McGowan, 25, is tantalisingly close to a comeback after missing the last three months due to a shoulder injury.
And his appearance on the bench at the weekend will be warmly welcomed by the Saints support.
Lennon added: “I just felt the work rate that he’s put in deserved a pat in the back.”
