Danny Lennon revealed how his Buddies would not get too downhearted following Saturday’s defeat in Perth.
Lennon described some of his side’s football as “exceptional” as they kept fighting to the end to try to salvage the game.
Unfortunately for Lennon and co, they came up just short.
Lennon said: “From the way we took the game to them in the first 25 minutes, I thought we were exceptional but we had nothing to show for that.
“St Johnstone are in good form.
“Wee Nigel Hasselbaink and Gregory Tade do cause defences problems and they got themselves into a two-goal lead.
“We then tried to settle ourselves back down, but were a wee bit shell-shocked to find ourselves 2-0 down, but that’s the way football goes.
“We changed one or two things in the second half and I thought the character the boys showed in the way they took the game to St Johnstone gave us great hope in trying to salvage something out of the game.
“Give the lads a lot of credit – they had the fans and everyone on their seats until the final whistle.”
