Glens in stunning fight back

The newly-formed Glenvale 1999s side registered a hard-fought victory against a very good Kilbirnie team on Saturday at Ferguslie as they claimed a 5-4 triumph.

It was the Paisley boys’ league bow but they got off to a nightmare start as they shipped two goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Jack Dickson pulled one back just before the break to half the deficit.

However, two more goals from Kilbirnie early in the second period left Glenvale with it all to do.

Dickson pulled another goal back with 20 minutes remaining and that gave the team that spark they had been missing.

Driven on by the double goal-scorer, ’Vale piled forward and Dickson completed his treble as he pounced on another defensive slip.

The pressure was building on Kilbirnie and it told when Dickson was there to slot the ball away after another blunder at the back.

And the remarkable turn around was complete when, with a minute to go, Adam Nicholson cut inside and squared it to Keiran Cornforth who slotted it under the goalkeeper to snatch a stunning win.
