Saints play the numbers game

ST MIRREN will have a new ‘Magnificent Seven’ next season ... after wideman Dougie Imrie took over the jersey vacated by departing legend Hugh Murray.

The shirt switch was confirmed by the Paisley club yesterday as they revealed the new squad numbers to be worn by Danny Lennon’s stars when the new SPL campaign kicks off next month.

Imrie takes over the number seven shirt after Murray – St Mirren’s all-time record appearance holder – was released at the end of last season.

Versatile defender David Barron has also swapped shirt numbers – changing from three to 23.

The 23 shirt was worn by Graham Carey last year but the Irishman will now sport the number 11 jersey.

New signing Jon Robertson takes over the number eight shirt vacated by midfielder Steven Thomson, while fellow recruit Sam Parkin has been handed Jon McShane’s old number 19 top.

Lewis Guy will wear the 27 shirt worn by Imrie last term.

The list of squad numbers is as follows:

1 – Craig Samson

2 – David van Zanten

4 – Darren McGregor

5 – Lee Mair

6 – Jim Goodwin

7 – Dougie Imrie

8 – Jon Robertson
