War grenade found in city garden

A second world war grenade has been found in a garden.

It was discovered in Melville Street, in Edinburgh, during excavation work.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have been contacted and a cordon is in place.

Lothian and Borders Police said the grenade does not present a serious risk to the public.

It is expected to be made safe by a controlled detonation.
