Five held over £600,000 drugs haul

Five people have been arrested after police seized drugs worth around £600,000.

Fife Constabulary said the drugs included cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis resin. They were recovered following an operation in the Dunfermline area.

A women and two men from west Fife and two women from the Preston area had been arrested, police said. They are due to appear at Dunfermline sheriff Court.

Detective Superintendent Colin Beattie, Head of Crime Management for Fife said: "This significant drugs recovery is further evidence of our commitment to tackle serious and organised crime in Fife."

In a separate incident drugs worth an estimated £85,000 were seized during a police raid on a house in North Lanarkshire.

Officers found what was believed to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of £75,000, at a property in Castle Street, Airdrie, on Saturday night.

They also seized what appeared to be cannabis resin, with an estimated street value of £10,000.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the seizure and is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
