Thousands of public sector jobs cut

Almost 10,000 public sector jobs were axed last year, official figures have shown.

But the public sector still accounts for almost a quarter of all employment in Scotland, according to the latest Government statistics.

The figures show a rise in NHS and police staff, although teacher numbers are down.
