SNP urged to drop paper notice plan

The Scottish Government has been urged to drop plans to end the need for public notices to be placed in local newspapers after it lost a Holyrood vote.

Opposition parties backed a Labour motion calling on the SNP administration to withdraw the cost-cutting measure.

The plan would allow councils to advertise notices like planning applications and road closures online instead.
