Notice obligation 'should remain'

The Scottish Government is to be urged to drop plans to end the need for councils to advertise in local newspapers.

Labour said removing this obligation would be "undemocratic" and may lead to key local decisions being taken without proper scrutiny.

The cost-cutting measure will allow public notices such as planning applications and road closures to be advertised online instead.
